All Aunt Jemima frozen pancakes, waffles and french toast products distributed in the United States have been recalled because "they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes", the FDA recall notice stated. The reason for this recall is the fear of contamination with listeria. According to the company, this suspicion only has to do with the frozen products with "Best By" dates, not the dry mixes and syrups.
The company said all affected distributors and retail and food service customers were being notified and the affected products were being removed from store shelves.
The recall affects frozen pancakes, waffles and French toast sold under the brand name. Also, elderly people and those with a weak immune system can be affected.
The FDA said symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. A Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
The company said it's working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. If you have one of these products in your home, you can return it for a full refund.
No illnesses have been reported in association with the recall.
