'Bachelor' star Chris Soules jailed after deadly Iowa crash

His spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, issued a statement saying Soules "was devastated" to learn that Mosher died. "His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher's family".

Last month, ET spoke with Soules about the possibility of him joining ABC's Bachelor in Paradise. Police said Soules left the scene without his truck and was later arrested. Aurora is about 15 miles (24 kilometers) south of Soules' farm in Arlington and about 65 miles (105 kilometers) north of Iowa City. The tractor rolled into the east ditch, killing its driver, while the truck went into the west ditch. Both the tractor and pickup ended up in a ditch.

Along with Buchanan County and the state patrol, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and the Oelwein Fire Department and Oelwein Ambulance responded to the scene.

Chris appeared in court on Tuesday morning and was charged with leaving the scene of a vehicle crash that left one individual dead.

The reality star may face additional charges as the investigation continues, depending upon whether or not he was impaired at the time. He was in court Tuesday for his arraignment.

The county attorney says Soules has not been cooperative with law enforcement. The arrest report provided by KWBE states that Soules "possessed alcoholic beverages/containers".

Chris Soules' preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 2. Nancy told Radar Online that she is understandably "not very well" the day after her beloved husband's fatal crash.

The crash comes as Gov. Terry Branstad and lawmakers have expressed alarm about a rising number of deaths on Iowa roadways caused by intoxicated and distracted drivers.

The Buchanan County Sheriff says they are still investigating the accident. The papers stated, "After investigating the incident, it was determined that Christopher Douglas Soules was involved in the motor vehicle collision which resulted in a fatality". They later found him at a friend's house and spent hours obtaining a search warrant to get Soules to come outside.

Court documents show investigators found alcohol containers at the scene of the accident. He is being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond, and if convicted could serve up to five years in prison.

This is a developing story. This post will continue to be updated.

According to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, Soules, 35, has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal vehicle accident that left one individual dead. His name has not been released. "Soules did not return and remain at the scene of the accident".

Soules, who also appeared on "The Bachelorette" and "Dancing With the Stars", became engaged to Whitney Bischoff after meeting her on the set of "The Bachelor" in 2015.

There was a deadly crash in Buchanan County Monday night.
