The superhero film, starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Vin Diesel, has earned $145 million (£111.7 million) to take the number one spot. But it's not just there: 80% of tickets to the film in Germany were for 3D as well.
Now the rag-tag group of heroes has entered the public consciousness.
The original was a surprise success, featuring a cast of lesser-known Marvel characters defending the galaxy. If it does, it will be one of only eight movies to ever hit that mark.
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" premiered in Tokyo on April 10, 2017 and was released in the United States on May 5, 2017, in 3D and IMAX 3D. "The Fate of the Furious" from Universal Pictures dropped to second place in its fourth week with $8.5 million. And as per industry reports, the worldwide box office collections have reached $167 million as of Thursday, May 4.

The Weinstein Co.'s TG (transgender) drama 3 Generations bombed in its debut, grossing $20,100 from theaters for a theater average of $3,353.
